Betrayed
During World War II, Germany sends millions of Jews from all over Europe to concentration camps where they are killed. When German troops come into Norway, the Jews there feel safe and protected. But anti-Semitism doesn't care about borders, and as the war in Europe gets worse, the situation changes in a big way. All of a sudden, their radios are taken away and their passports are stamped with a big J. One day, all of the men over 15 are arrested and taken to prison camps. Many of the women left behind are too scared to leave and are desperately waiting for their husbands and sons to come back home. On November 26, 1942, the police wake up in the middle of the night and take hundreds of Jews to the dock in Oslo. Men, women, children, the sick, and the elderly who don't know what's going on and are scared are forced onto the waiting German cargo ship "SS DONAU." The ship sets sail with 302 men, 188 women, and 42 children who are all Norwegian Jews. The ultimate station is Auschwitz.
