The Honorary Consul
Story: Dr. Eduardo Plarr, a doctor who is half English and half Latino, is a main character in the book. He left his home country to find a better one. Along the way, he meets a lot of different people, including British Consul Charley Fortnum, who is trying to stop the Revolution in Latin America. He is also a sorry drinker. It's not easy for the doctor to find Clara, who he falls in love with right away. She is married to Charley.
