The Odyssey
The Odyssey is a fantasy–adventure television miniseries that aired on American television in 1997. It was nominated for a Golden Globe and won the Emmy Award. Beginning on May 18, 1997, NBC broadcast the miniseries in two parts, both of which were directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. In the end, the show was recognized as having "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or Special." The ancient Greek epic poem The Odyssey, which is typically assigned to Homer, serves as the inspiration for this television series. The plot takes place in many locations around the Mediterranean, including England, Malta, and Turkey; these countries were also used as filming locations for the production. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams are some of the names that appear in the cast of this international all-star production.
