Living Single
One of Fox's most popular sitcoms, "Living Single" ran from August 22, 1993 to January 1, 1998. There were six friends living in a Brooklyn brownstone, and their lives were depicted on the television. During its five-season run, Living Single remained one of the most successful African-American sitcoms of its time, consistently placing in the top five in the demographic's ratings. Yvette Lee Bowser's company, Sister Lee, produced the series in conjunction with Warner Bros. Television. While NBC's "Must See TV" on Thursday nights in the 1990s was popular with many African American and Latino viewers, Fox's lineup of Martin, Living Single, and New York Undercover attracted many of these people. For the 1996–97 season, these were the three most popular shows among black families.
